The Baguette and Its 25th Anniversary

First introduced in 1997 by Silvia Venturini Fendi, The Baguette has become one of the most iconic bags of all time and holds a special place in the fashion world and in everyone's hearts. This year marks the 25th anniversary of this beloved bag. Kim Jones, Fendi's artistic director of Couture and Womenswear, and Silvia Venturini Fendi, Fendi's director of Accessories and Menswear, flew to the Big Apple to celebrate the illustrious bag's birthday during New York Fashion Week.

Thanks to the memorable cameo in Sex and the City, choosing New York to celebrate the special occasion helped cement the unbreakable bond between the Baguette and this sleepless city. To honor the anniversary of the Baguette, Fendi teamed up with fellow LVMH subsidiaries; Marc Jacobs and Tiffany & Co. to reinterpret the bag through their lens. Moreover, the show featured a collaboration with the Japanese luggage label, PORTER.

Aside from Jones, Venturini, and Jacobs' brilliant clothing design, I love how they reinterpreted the Baguette. It's not just different bag sizes and materials but also kangaroo pockets, coat pockets, and even glove and bucket hat decorations — the wearable Baguettes. Speaking of bags, I adore 'the Baguette by the Baguette,' which resembles Marc Jacobs' famous The Tote Bag, and, of course, all the Baguettes in Tiffany Blue.

It wouldn't be a great birthday party without guests and surprises, and this event is truly star-studded. The celebration included everyone from Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Kardashian to Kate Moss and the legend Grace Jones. While their Korean ambassadors, Lee Minho and Song Hye Kyo, also sat in the front row. Fendi's current face, Linda Evangelista — who recently returned to modeling after a six-year hiatus — surprisingly made an appearance in Tiffany Blue cape, joining Venturini, Jones, Jacobs, and Delfina Delettrez for the finale bow.
